![]() ![]() I don't remember the last time I had lunch in the afternoon with my girlfriends. But boy do I wish I could have lunch with my girlfriends in the middle of the afternoon. I've only been a mom for not even two years yet, so I haven't had much of a chance. How much did you draw on your own parental experiences? There's something about looking at society's expectation of what is and tipping it, which was really fun to me. KH: Yes! And we're still the same birds we were before we made these people. We haven't been able to see this side of the moms before.įinally comedy is letting us see that moms are wild, too. Or the wish fulfillment of probably most moms, which is really exciting. There's something about tipping that and showing what's actually going on. Kathryn Hahn: I also feel like motherhood, especially, is seen usually in movies with this saintly veil over it. Any man that has had a mother, has a sister, wants to be a father will find this incredibly eye opening and hysterical and funny. This just happens to be told from the perspective of women. Mila Kunis: I think parenthood is just ripe for comedy. They also have some sage advice for men on how to be better dads. We joined Kunis and Hahn at the SLS in Beverly Hills recently to discuss the film, women in comedy, and parenthood. ![]() It's obviously directed to a female audience, but the jokes will be funny to anyone watching and there's a sense of familiarity in the battle for a work-life balance. These newly liberated moms drink, party, steal, and hit on men at nightclubs instead of worrying about whether their kids have a well-balanced breakfast waiting on the table. In the film, in theaters today, Kunis' character Amy grapples with how to be a "good" mom to her two kids-and eventually, with the help of Bell's timid Kiki and Hahn's insane Carla, she gives up and lets loose. In Bad Moms, Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Kathryn Hahn unleash crassly hilarious versions of mothers we haven't really seen onscreen before. ![]()
